Viyan Hikalie, Ghouls Vase 2

Iranian artist Viyan (V3yrun) draws inspiration for her ceramic creations from her childhood fascination with old Persian ancient stories that feature demons and ghouls like the Shahnameh (The Book of Kings).

The Shahnameh is the national epic of Greater Iran composed by the Persian poet Abu’l-Qasim Ferdowsi over a period of more than 30 years.

These mythical creatures, often exhibited with horns and portrayed as genderless beings, serve as a rich source of creativity for her. Viyan seeks to convey a sense of imperfection while achieving a unique form of perfection in her art.
