Lucas Barcelo Objects, Gandul Lamp

Lucas Barcelo is a ceramic artist and furniture designer from Mallorca, Spain. Trained in ceramics as a child, he moved to Melbourne in 2016 to study furniture making and design. After work with leading Australian furniture manufacturers, Barcelo returned to his primary material of clay. The ceramics medium allowed him to merge design principles with a more intuitive, material-driven practice.

In 2023, he established his studio in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. Lucas works between Saudi Arabia, Australia, and the UAE. Barcelo’s pieces have been shown with Downtown Design Riyadh and the Saudi Arabian Museum of Contemporary Art. His work is inspired by nature, using mineral-based glazes and raw ingredients to create distinctive forms, and unique surface finishes.
