HARAKAT SISTERS is a design studio founded in 2014 by Moroccan-Lebanese sisters Nisrine Harakat, a stylist, and Sara Harakat, an architect. Located between Paris, Casablanca, and Beirut, the studio crafts timeless objects that blend nostalgia, color, and innovative design, creating bridges between their North African and Middle Eastern cultures.
Ksseta Bag, one of their iconic creations, is a unique piece that merges design with a celebration of 80s Arab pop culture and world music through its centerpiece: the cassette. Inspired by the cassettes and walkmans that shaped their childhood, Nisrine and Sara created the Ksseta Bag to evoke memories and emotions. The cassettes, carefully selected during their travels, feature cherished artists like Oum Kalthoum, Fairuz, and Nass El Ghiwan. This thoughtful curation allows them to share their musical heritage with the world.
The concept behind the Ksseta Bag is both nostalgic and interactive. Users can remove the cassettes and play them on a walkman or stereo, transforming the act of handling and listening into a journey back in time, awakening memories and emotions. These immersive setups provide a hands-on experience that highlights the timeless appeal of HARAKAT SISTERS' designs.
