Hassan Hajjaj, Andy Wahloo Limited Edition Can "SuperLux"
Andy Wahloo limited edition large tea caddies are made in collaboration with Amine El Baroudi (the Tea Man) and began with making cans to frame Hassan Hajjaj’s photography. This concept has grown into the first release of limited edition tea caddies as collectible art objects. The artwork celebrates classic Pop art with traditional Moroccan Souk graphics from local packaging.
Superlux is a brand name of Moroccan batteries, manufactured by ‘L’Electrochimie Africaine’, based in Tangier. Everyone in Morocco knows the brand, famous for its white horse advertising dating back to the 1980’s.
Photographer, designer and filmmaker Hassan Hajjaj has strong ties to both Morocco and the UK. Born in the fishing town of Larache, Morocco in 1961 Hassan moved to London aged 12. Growing up immersed in London's club culture as it was emerging and taking shape during his teen years heavily influenced Hajjaj's practice and approach to creativity.
