Inspired by traditional Persian marquetry known as khatamkari and hard-edge paintings, a style of geometric painting that originated in California in the late 1950s.
Founded in Santa Monica, CA, Eclectic Decks is a contemporary art and lifestyle brand that fuses traditional art-forms from around the world with a modern-day platform. Each series in the Eclectic Decks collection draws inspiration from a different culture, taking time-honored prints and patterns, and juxtaposing them with the classic wooden skateboard.
Founder Leila Nazarian was born in California and spent time in Iran and Paris, before returning to Santa Monica to launch Eclectic Decks. Her passion for travel, cultural diplomacy and the beach all influence the brand; a mix of East and West, old and new, florid yet laidback. All skateboards are made in Southern California - the birthplace of skate culture. The prints and patterns are all sourced from artists around the world.
