Letters to the Holy Land was born from a heartfelt desire to unite for Palestine through the power of poetry. Each poem is a love letter to Palestine and its people, who have endured over 76 years of brutal occupation, apartheid, and injustice. Created by Sara Dweik and Maria Amiouni, two poets living in Dubai, this anthology is a testament to solidarity, resilience, and the transformative power of words.
This collection reflects a journey through grief, resistance, culture, and hope. It brings together 98 poets from across the globe – spanning all races, religions, and ages, from an 8-year-old to an 84-year-old, including Palestinians, ex-Zionists, and indigenous voices. United by a shared humanity, these poets have poured their hearts into a work of profound meaning and timeless significance.
Organized into four chapters inspired by the colors of the Palestinian flag, the book captures the full spectrum of emotions tied to the Palestinian cause. It begins with grief, moves through the beauty of culture, shines with hope, and culminates in the spirit of resistance. Each piece offers a platform for truth, love, and the preservation of heritage, aiming to bring a sense of belonging and hope to a world that has made too many feel displaced.
This anthology is not just a collection of poems; it is a piece of history and a testament to the enduring spirit of Palestine. It is a call to remember, to stand in solidarity, and to believe in the power of words to shape a better future.
