The fifth issue, and first print edition, of Kuwait-based Sonduke spotlights counter-cultural art and music primarily originating from Southwest Asia and North Africa. Translated from Arabic, the magazine's title SONDUKE (“صندوق”— Arabic for crate, vault, or safe) is an Arab Gulf based independent digital platform featuring regional and global experimental and industrial art and sound. The ‘interiority’ signaled by the name Sonduke evokes the formation of a space for art otherwise delineated as marginal—a counter space.

SONDUKE supports both under-represented and impactful artists, providing a platform to showcase their craft. In doing so, SONDUKE fosters a space for creative and counter-cultural dialogue. This platform and digital publication spotlights sonic and visual experimental art forms that embody expressions of resistance.
